Frequently asked questions

How does Getlocate find a phone?

It reads the carrier and network data linked to the phone number to estimate where the device is connected — through cell-tower triangulation, plus GPS or Wi-Fi positioning where it's available. Nothing needs to be installed on the phone you're locating.

Do I have to install an app?

No. Getlocate runs off the phone number alone — there's nothing to put on your device or the one you're locating.

How accurate is it?

It comes down to network coverage. In busy city areas a result can narrow to a block or building; out in the countryside the area is wider. Every result carries a confidence indicator.

How long does a search take?

Most searches land a result in roughly two minutes.

Is phone tracking legal?

Getlocate is made for lawful, consent-based use — locating a device you own, your minor child's device, or checking the region of a number that's calling you. Following the laws where you live is on you. See our Legal Use policy for the details.

Will my search stay private?

Yes. Every request is 256-bit SSL encrypted, and we run a zero-knowledge policy — what you searched is neither stored nor shared.

What does it cost?

A flat $9 per search. Our Pricing page lays out exactly what each search includes.

What if the number can't be found?

If a search returns no usable result, our 30-day money-back guarantee applies and you're refunded in full.

Can I locate a phone that's switched off?

Not live — a powered-off phone can't be pinned in real time. You can usually see its last known spot before it dropped offline, and set an alert for when it's back on.

Does it work in other countries?

Yes. Getlocate handles numbers worldwide, though accuracy and coverage shift from country to country and carrier to carrier.
